WHAT IS CBD OIL?
Short for cannabidiol, CBD is one of numerous chemical compounds known as cannabinoids that occur naturally in the hemp plant. CBD is extracted from specially bred varieties of hemp that contain very low levels of the psychoactive cannabinoid THC. That means CBD does not produce intoxicating effects like the ‘high’ associated with cannabis.
CBD oil is a natural wellness supplement. It’s made by blending CBD with a carrier oil such as hemp seed oil. Jersey Hemp’s bottled CBD oils come with a built-in dropper making it easy to take the right amount for you.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CBD OIL?
As food supplements rather than medicines, CBD oil products don’t make medical claims. However, many people who use CBD believe it improves their general sense of wellbeing and there is a growing body of scientific research suggesting it has the potential to help with a wide range of health conditions, including chronic pain, anxiety, sleeping problems and even some cancer symptoms. Specially refined CBD is already in use in approved medicines that treat multiple sclerosis and rare forms of epilepsy.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CBD OIL AND BROAD-SPECTRUM CBD OIL?
Some CBD oils are made with the ‘pure’ form of cannabidiol, known as CBD isolate. This is a crystalline extract which is powdered before being blended with a carrier oil. It is over 99% pure and contains only the tiniest trace amounts of other hemp substances.
Broad-spectrum, CBD oils are less refined than CBD isolate and more closely reflect the overall make-up of the hemp plant. As well as CBD, they contain other cannabinoids, such as CBG (cannabigerol), along with naturally occurring hemp substances called terpenes and flavonoids, which have their own health properties. A theory known as the ‘entourage effect’ suggests that together this spectrum of compounds may be more beneficial than CBD alone.
UNDERSTANDING CBD OIL STRENGTHS
There are several numbers you’ll often see displayed on the label of a bottle of CBD oil. These may include the volume of oil in ml and the total amount of CBD in mg but if you want to know the strength of the oil – and therefore the amount of CBD in a single droplet – the percentage is the number to look for. To get a rough idea of how many mg of CBD are in a drop of oil, just halve the percentage.
Jersey Hemp CBD oils come in 5% and 10% solutions, delivering approximately 2.5mg and 5mg of CBD per droplet, respectively, so you can measure the right dose for you.

HOW TO TAKE CBD OIL
Good CBD oils come with a built-in dropper so it’s easy to measure the amount you want. You can swallow the oil directly or add it drinks or to food after it’s been cooked. However, the CBD may act more quickly and more of it will be available if you take it sublingually, which simply means ‘under the tongue’.
Place the required number of droplets beneath your tongue and hold them there for a minute or two before swallowing. This allows the CBD to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream via the capillary-rich mucous membrane for maximum effect.
